Welcome to Week 3 of More Than A Guilty Pleasure: to Plot or to Plan

Welcome to Week 3 of More Than A Guilty Pleasure: Mastering the Romance Novel Form to Tell the Perfect Story.

This is an in-person class that I’m teaching in Calgary, and, if you’re coming to us late–sorry! You canna join. But, if you wish, you can jumpstart your writing practice with the first 21 writing prompts. And keep an eye out for a future and online version of the class-or ask me to deliver it in your hood. I travel. 😉

Anyway, this week, More Than A Guilty Pleasure is all about plotting.

Plotting, by the way, kittens, is not at all what you think it is. It is the most creative, exciting, challenging and infuriating part of the writing process. It’s a discipline that leads to freedom and a structure that allows unbridled creativity.

I can’t wait to go through this week’s class with my class peeps. My class peeps, by the way, your private slide deck for week three is HERE — and I’ll give you the password in class.

Other news: the Writing Erotica: A Filthy Flirty Workshop for The Bold and Shy Alike that I had on this Saturday was almost a full house (one empty chair!). Class participants, your Slide + Resource portal is HERE and I emailed you the link and password as well. General public–sorry about all the secrets and private content, but using my blog as the portal is the easiest way to share a bunch of links and videos with people, you know? Also, I really like passwords and secrets.

The grand conclusion to the workshop, which I am happy to share with you all, was this:

And the one non-negotiable that I highlighted over and over again was, obviously:

So, on that note, I’d encourage you all, if you haven’t yet, to watch this short little video:

…and on that note, keep things flirty, dirty, and consensual.

See some of you tonight, and the rest of you in sensual cyberspace. 😉

About mjanecolette

Writer. Reader. Angster. Reformed Bohemian (not). Author of the erotic romance Tell Me, the erotic tragedy (with a happy ending) Consequences (of defensive adultery), and the rom-com (she's versatile) Cherry Pie Cure, as well as the non-fiction collection of essays Rough Draft Confessions: not a guide to writing and selling erotica and romance but full of inside inside anyway. Coming in 2018: Text Me, Cupid, a steamy romance in four episodes. Current WiPs: Queer Christmas in Cowtown, Jewel of the Not-So-Spectacular Boobs, All In the Cards, and Un-Valentine. Yes, working on four projects simultaneously is a spectacularly bad idea.
