Actually, John ruined Christmas #cherrypiecure

He didn’t say anything, or write back, for about ten, fifteen minutes.

Then… ping. A text.

“Susan. You misunderstood.”

And you know what? If it weren’t for the boob shots that followed, I might have believed him. I wanted to believe him.

Maybe if, in that moment, he had said all the right things—any of the right things—maybe I would have… swallowed my pain. My pride. And forgiven him.

I think I might have, you know, because I had loved him for more than twenty years!

Instead:

“Susan. You’re going to ruin Christmas.”

Do you know what I just realized?

That’s the moment when I stopped loving him.

I didn’t realize it until just now, until I wrote it down.

But that’s when it happened.

He was cheating on me.

He got caught.

I told him I knew.

And I was going to ruin Christmas?
