So if you follow my Instagram (@mjanecolette), you might have noticed I have a thing for Tarot cards.
(I’ve also got a WIP called All In the Cards, the heroine of which is a fake Tarot card reader, but it’s not going well, so let’s not talk about it).
If you’re in Calgary, and if you’ve been not-so-secretly dreaming about having me tell you what to do with your life–er, I mean, read your Tarot cards for you–there’s this incredible book launch happening on November 22, and your dreams can totally come true.
Join Robert Bose and Sarah L. Johnson for a masquerade cocktail party celebration to launch of Wall of Fire, their collaborative short story collection, as well as the gritty steampunk novella, The Black City Beneath by R. Overwater. Indulge in an evening of food, drink, tarot readings, prizes, scavenger hunts, and other deadly sins.
Masques provided. Costumes encouraged. See you in Purgatory…
FRIDAY, NOV 22, 7 TO 9 PM
4th floor Treehouse at cSPACE King Edward

So, you should come to this book launch not just because I’m there with Tarot cards, but because Robert Bose and Sarah L. Johnson know how to throw a party. The last time I did a literary party with Sarah, there were Naked Girls and boys on leashes, and that was just the warm-up act. Seriously people. You know that whole awkward author standing in front of a bunch of pretentious literary types and reading book launch party thing?
Yeah, they don’t do that.
Some of the stuff they’re planning:
Ask a Demon… Back by popular demand, this AMA favourite will convene in the Purgatorio Penthouse overlooking the salted poet pits.
Confession… Lustful sins can be written and deposited anonymously in the desecrated urn. If your confession is drawn, should you choose to claim it, you may walk through the wall of fire to claim your prize.
And, of course, and I quote, “Fortunes and futures revealed by the mystical, marvellous, and magnificent M. Jane Colette, author of Consequences, Cherry Pie Cure, and other flirty, funny, filthy, love stories for people who think too much.”
So, yeah. I think you should come.
